The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s lacrosse team secured a strong victory against UW-Stout with a score of 22-5 on Saturday at the Sonnentag Fieldhouse. The game was notable for junior player Reegan Werner from Farmington, Minnesota, who became the third player in the program’s history to score 100 career goals. This accomplishment places her alongside teammates Alexie Romanelli and Samantha Burns, the only other Blugolds to achieve this milestone.

The Blugolds, with a record of 9-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play, took control early by scoring the first nine goals of the game. In the first quarter alone, they outperformed the Blue Devils (7-5, 2-5) with an 8-0 lead. Both Burns and Werner had successful starts, each contributing two goals in the first quarter.

Although UW-Stout attempted a comeback with three consecutive goals in the second quarter, narrowing the gap to 9-3, they could not bridge the chasm, never getting closer than six goals from the lead. Seven Blugolds players accumulated three or more points in the game, with Werner achieving seven points to raise her season total to 59. Sophomore Ellie Fisher from Stillwater, Minnesota, added five points through two goals and three assists, while fellow sophomores Victoria Shea and Jess Stiller each contributed four points.

Senior Alexandria Shea, from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, was in goal for one half and made six saves, helping secure the victory, while sophomore Bella Jones scored three goals in the game’s latter half.

The Blugolds celebrated Senior Day, acknowledging six senior players: Burns, Ella Novak, Romanelli, Kaia Hollingsworth, Lydia Wickersham, and Alexandria Shea.

Looking ahead, the Blugolds are set to play their final regular season game in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference against UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. at the Sonnentag Fieldhouse. The event will also feature a Military Appreciation Day.
